A Different Approach to Family Matters
Dorothy M. Gibbons-White, a 2000 cum laude, Order of the Coif graduate of Loyola Law School Los Angeles, came to the law after a career in politics and business. She brings a wealth of life experience to her role as advocate for a range of clients involved in high and mid-level net worth family law and estate planning matters. Her approach differs from many other practitioners in that she is a full partner with her clients, working hands-on to achieve their goals, which may go well beyond her role as courtroom advocate. She is sensitive to the emotional aspects of her clients' matters concerning their children, their home, their most personal issues, and she is committed to making her clients' experience as painless as possible. For high profile clients she is able to skillfully keep divorce and child custody disputes as private as possible. She has achieved the return of a client's children from a former spouse across state lines by working closely with law enforcement. She has resolved a major estate dispute after the death of a well known entertainer, securing a private out of court settlement and avoiding public litigation and press coverage. She has achieved full and immediate payment on a contempt order against an opposing party on active military duty by working closely with military personnel. She has navigated the complexities of child protective services to secure the return of a newborn to her mother after the child was wrongly taken into foster care. She has walked her clients through the necessary steps to report restraining order violations, going to the hospital with them where necessary and to the police station where helpful. Throughout the firm's representation, an important goal for every client is the client's empowerment.
